Partial Carpark Closure

Please be advised that part of the Carpark at the rear of Ursula Hall will be closed from Monday 6th July 2009 (Pay & Display and some Permit parking will be affected).

Temporary Traffic Management and Parking Plan for the Colleges of Science project

The construction phase of the Teaching Building for the College of Science project will commence in August this year. As previously indicated during the implementation of the temporary traffic management plan (TTMP) for Biosciences, these construction activities will further impact on pedestrian, bicycle, vehicle traffic and parking through, in and around the Banks precinct as well as access to the Halls of Residence to through the precinct.

The current aim is to instigate arrangements prior to the commencement of second semester to minimize any confusion that would arise from altering these arrangements mid term. Under the current program the TTMP arrangements will be in place from July 2009 until the end of 2012. Further changes may be required as the situation arises.

From the 15 July Linnaeus Way will effectively be closed to all private vehicle traffic. This will minimize any safety or traffic conflict issues during construction. Access along the majority of Linnaeus Way will be limited to construction and authorized vehicles only and all general permit parking will be removed. Fencing will be installed both sides of Linnaeus way to separate pedestrian traffic from the road. The existing the loading zones will be retained to allow deliveries and maintenance activities to continue during construction.

Signage notifying the public staff and students of the change in parking, traffic and way finding will also be installed from the 15 July. The existing parking arrangements of the Medical School will have to be relocated to the Sullivan’s Creek Car park.

As state earlier during the course of works it may be necessary to alter or amend the proposed arrangements and areas affected by any changes will be notified prior to changes being implemented.
